Forensic Assessment

Forensic psychology is a subspecialty of psychology that is concerned with the intersection between mental health and the law. It requires an in depth understanding of mental illness and/or conditions associated with cognitive impairment and their relationship to challenging behaviours. Forensic psychologists are often called upon to provide an objective opinion regarding how cognitive or psychological problems may be affecting an individual currently or at some specified time in the past, such as when an offence was committed. They may also be asked how cognitive or psychological difficulties are likely to affect an individual’s behaviour in the future or how to best manage an individual’s risk for reoffending from a (neuro)psychological perspective.

I can provide forensic evaluations to individuals residing in Simcoe County, Muskoka, and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Requests for forensic assessments outside these geographic regions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. I address a broad range of referral questions for criminal matters, including but not limited to an assessment of the accused person’s mental health and/or cognitive functioning, (neuro)psychological factors relevant to voluntariness, criminal responsibility, fitness to stand trial, pre-sentencing evaluations, and risk to reoffend.

Travel expenses will be incorporated into the cost if the location of the assessment is more than 50km away from Wasaga Beach. Please contact me for further details.
